About Priscilla
My Story
My name is Priscilla I am the dedicated Nutritionist associated with this slimming clinic. A few years ago, I was well overweight, and eventually classed as obese. I weighed almost 100 kilos! It bothered me, so much that I tried to follow several home made diets, but without success. I also tried many different weight loss medicine but only Reductil helped to lose my much-desired weight loss.
It took me almost a year to shift my weight and achieve my desired goals with some help from a clinic. Since then I've been maintaining a good weight and actually improving the results.
The story goes like this . . . . . One spring day many moons ago, I tried to wear a pair of (UK) size 20 jeans, I could not zip up no matter how hard I tried not even close to it not even laying on my bed. That pair of jeans was only 3 months old. I thought to myself, if I continue like this where would I end up? what size would I be next year .. and the year after that. I knew then I did not want to go up another size. I cried a lot that day.
That day I promised myself, I will not stop until I sort myself out, I thought I can not and should not not allow this to go on for any longer, enough is enough. I'm going to change my life for good". I was then classed as obese.
"How did I get to my size 20+"
I was not a chubby baby and was not particularly over weight in most of my teens. Sometimes after my 18th birthday, I started slowly gaining weight. At that time, I had countless changes in my life and I was filled with anxiety among other difficulties. During this difficult time of my life food gave me some comfort that I could not find otherwise. I really liked food anyway. But when I was anxious I ate a lot more. In addition to my anxiety and other difficulties, I was also inactive and enjoyed watching TV, reading magazines and eating a lot of unhealthy food while doing those activities. Later on I remember I used to eat 6 - 8 slices of bread every morning while during the rest of morning I used to munch some other high calorie stuff and before lunch I was already hungry. My food was all wrong. I ate a lot of unhealthy stuff such as bread, fries and a lot of process food and drank fizzy drinks. Every day I was eating the wrong things and my weight slowly but surely went up.
To be honest, the biggest difficulty was making the decision to change.
"I had to do something before it was too late"
One thing was for sure, I had to do something, and that was surely to lose weight or at least not to add to it.
To achieve my desired goals I had no choice but to be determined and persevere. There were many difficulties and obstacles along the way but I always said that I would continue, regardless to the end. I needed to prove to myself that I was able to make the changes I wanted.
To be honest, it was not a straight forward journey. Along the way, I had many attempts and failures but the point is we should never give up and I did not. The important factor is to make the decision to go for it. For me, the final straw was when my size 20 jeans did not fit me, that was what broke the camels back so to speak.
"My adventures to lose weight"
I then decided to look for professional help as going it alone was harder than I thought. Through some research and recommendations from friends I found a slimming clinic and someone who could support me through my weight loss journey. The slimming clinic provided me with the help from a nutritionist who really understood my burdens and supported me to make conscious health changes to my life.
The weight loss program I taken also encouraged me to be more active and to challenge myself. Every week we had goals set which I had to try to achieve. Suddenly, I was going to the gym twice a week and taking classes which I really enjoyed.
I've never been a sweet person but with the increase of my physical exercise, I felt the desire of eating sweets.
One of the things I learned from my nutritionist was to make healthy changes so when I felt the desire of having a chocolate, I used to grill a banana with cinnamon on top and eat as my healthy swap.
So I then started to have fruits with cinnamon for my emergency times when I was really craving for sweets.
In no time, I found within me a willpower that I did not even knew existed. I started to look for natural foods and avoid the process foods.
"I went to collage to learn more about the subject"
Today I go to the gym at least 3 times a week and I continue to see the results of my dedication and commitment. I hope I will inspire other women and men to pursue a healthier life style. I've lived through my life being overweight and I know how difficult it is at times. From personal experience I have learnt, patience and persistence is the key to success. It definitely worth making an effort. Losing weight only depends on us.
My advice will always be to seek strength in your desire to lose weight when you feel you are about to sabotage yourself. When you get off the diet, do not despair! Restart at the next meal. The important thing in this process is not to give up.
I've also learned that having a balanced diet is very important but it is also about life style from emotional changes to physical ones.
It was after I made my choice to lose weight and have a healthier life style that I got interested in learning more about the subject and my desire to help others. Subsequently I went to collage and qualified as a nutritionist. So I could say " I have been there and bought the T-shirt" so to speak!
I do understand the mental and physical pain that being over weight may cause and may I assure you that everything we do here at theonlineslimmingclinic is to ensure you have a smooth journey to achieve your weight loss and a healthier life style.
